An air combat drill is underway in China's northwestern desert. It is the largest of its kind in the history of Chinese air force.

Hundreds of fighter planes, 170 fighter pilots and 19 aerial brigades and regiments from different military area commands have been mobilized.

Younger pilots comprise much of the personnel involved, and many are participating in such a drill for the first time.
The drill is scheduled to last for one month. Pilots will compete for the top five spots in air combat exercises.
