Yao Ming was literally and figuratively the biggest sporting star in China. He was the first foreign developed player ever chosen number one in the NBA draft. He was also the first Asian chosen to take part in the NBA All-Star Game, a feat he accomplished six times.

Unfortunately injuries cut his career short, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been busy, as the former Houston Rockets center has devoted much of his time to philanthropy, and his Yao Foundation Charity Game has been held every year since 2010, with this summer's edition inviting fellow NBA veterans Tony Parker and Shane Battier to the city of Dongguan, for a showcase which helped raise seven million RMB for charity.

And youth is where Yao now puts a lot of his focus, as he tries to help children by establishing Hope Schools in poor areas, as well as introducing them to basketball through the Yao School. And he recently took some time to sit down with our Wang Dong, to discuss his wishes for the world's youth.
