Recognizing achievements for more traditional forms of performing arts and cultural entertainment can be difficult without the right support. But in Shandong, the provincial government is pushing hard to make sure these artists have a stage. Traditional and specialized performers from across the country came together over the weekend for the third Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition in the capital city Jinan.

The event took place at the Shungeng International Convention and Exhibition Center in Jinan. Over 700 hundred exhibition items were on disply across 57 installations and 355 booths. The first floor is dedicated to exhibits from across China, with the second exclusively showcasing works from Shandong province.

Special performances by ethnic groups from across the country also put a nice touch to the show. They included classic Chinese operas and the comedic dialgoue sketch known as crosstalk. Including this one from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

"To pass on our heritage, we want to invite more people to see it. We've also made some changes to cater to the tastes of the audience."

This performer from Shaanxi province introduces his hometown with a litte song to attract visitors.

"My music attracts a lot people from my hometown, as I beat these strings they just keep coming. I love my native culture."

Other treats and attractions that drew in visitors include food, paintings and even wood carvings from Africa. The event, only lasting four days, meant many might have missed out on the chance to catch the event. To solve that, the Jinan government is building the Jinan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exposition Park which will be open all year round.

The park will go on a test-run in Spring 2015 and will be fully operational by May the same year.
