World No. 1 Serena Williams was looking to avenge her most lopsided defeat in her career when she met Simon Halep in the championship match of the WTA Finals. The Romanian wallopped the world number one 6-0, 6-2 in the round robin portion of the tournament. But in the title match, things would be much different.

That is the trophy that the two ladies are playing for -- Halep going for his first crown. Serena her fifth.
And the Romanian would start strong, breaking her opponent in the third game to take a 2-1 lead, and suddenly it looked like a repeat of their previous encounter.
But the world number one would bounce back, and start dictating play with her groundstrokes. She would break right back -- and we were back on serve 2-2.
The American would then start to punish Halep's serve -- teeing off on a second serve and winning the point with a smash at the net and she is in front at 5-3.

And a service winner on set point gave the 18-time Grand Slam winner the opening set 6-3, is the count.
The second frame was not competitive in anyway, as Serena cruised to an easy 6-love victory -- and her fifth crown
"It means a lot to me to win. I can't believe I am sitting here talking about winning the title. I am so excited to come through with the win, it feels really good," Serena said.
"She played better, she played stronger than me today. She was stronger, I knew that it will be a different match because every day it is different, every day it is a new day. So I tried to stay there focussed and try everything I can but in the end I was very tired and I couldn't manage the match very well," Simona said.
