The Hong Kong police have once again called on residents to remain calm when expressing their opinions and to avoid violent action. At a briefing on Monday afternoon, Senior Superintendent of the Hong Kong police's Public Relations Branch, Kong Man-keung, said authorities were concerned about recent outbreaks of violence and called on all sides to respect each other.
Kong also said the SAR's High Court injunction banning protesters from blocking the streets in Mong Kok remains in effect. He urged all protesters still illegally occupying the streets to clear their barricades, which he said are endangering public safety and affecting normal daily life.
Kong again stressed that the police will continue to serve all Hong Kong people and handle the situation in a just and impartial manner.
