Two-time Academy Awards winning actress Jessica Lange is known for her role in movies like 'Big Fish' and 'Blue Sky'.

Jessica Lange's friends including Kathy Bates, Demi Moore and Ryan Murphy gathered at the Bacara Resort & Spa for the annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival fundraiser to celebrate Lange's extraordinary career.

"Robert De Niro. Quentin Tarantino. Harrison Ford. The previous eight recipients of the annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival have all been men. Now Jessica Lange will be the first woman to accept this honor and award for her multitude of achievements on the big and small screen," said Sanyee Yuan from Santa Barbara.

Lange made her professional film debut in the 1976 remake of the classic movie King Kong. In 1982, she became the first performer in forty years to receive two Oscar nominations within the same year.

"How did you manage to navigate the main obstacles in the entertainment industry to establish yourself as an actress?" said Sanyee Yuan

"I don't know. I think it's an idea of making an understanding that a work is more important than anything else and other things that come with it. The acting is the only thing that actually matters. And there is my family that I have this amazing that has tagged along with me through all of this. That made all the difference in the world," said Jessica Lange.

After winning two Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries, Jessica Lange has become a staple to the hit show American Horror Story. In the series, Lange has played an eerie housewife, a remorseful nun, a powerful witch and a circus manager.

Roger Durling, the executive director of the film festival commented on Lange's refined performance.

"Look at her career and the choices she made; she is extremely groundbreaking and uncompromising. In American Horror Story, it's a groundbreaking role for a woman," said Roger Durling, executive director of Sbiff.

With a busy acting career and her position for the United Nations Children's Fund, Jessica Lange has also published her photography that she produced as a hobby. In the spotlight, Lange holds a very low-profile life style with family and friends.

"I'm just looking forward to spending an evening with friends and the people I care about," Jessica Lange said.

Described as dazzling and dynamic, Lange has contributed her skills to a wide range of performances. Her peers are not only celebrating her work, but also her uniquely individual traits that have allowed her to seamlessly navigate the industry.
