More than 400 people have been arrested in the St. Louis suburb and around the United States in civil unrest after a white policeman was not indicted in the killing of an unarmed black teenager.

After the grand jury delivered its verdict on officer Darren Wilson, violent protests broke out in Michael Brown's hometown of Ferguson. Several protesters stormed into City Hall in St. Louis, leading police to lock down the building. About 22-hundred National Guard troops have been deployed in and around Ferguson.

Protests spread to Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta and other cities on Wednesday. Brown's parents made public calls for peace in the run-up to Monday's announcement, and on Tuesday, their representatives again stressed that the people setting fires were not on Michael Brown's side.
