2015 is all about hair...according to beauty professionals - with long lashes and statement hair back on the agenda at one of the UK's biggest beauty shows.

Ponytails and natural lashes big this year

Accessorised ponytails are putting a new spin on an old classic for 2015.

This beauty show is aimed at trade professionals, so what you see here isn't necessarily what you'll get if you visit a spa, or salon in your local high street.

Whether it's up, down, cropped, or crowned, hair is a highlight of the professional beauty industry in 2015.

These models have been meticulously preened by celebrity hairdresser Desmond Murray....a veteran of the fashion show catwalks.

Early in the morning Murray prepares his models, gelling almost every strand of a section of their hair into the shape of a wave.

"Simple and also glamorous at the same time. There's obviously with all the ponytails, it's quite sleek, it's quite simple, but it's very glamorous and very classy, very tasteful," Murray said.

Stylists like Murray are inspired by the sleek extended ponytail look which dominated the Dior Couture Spring Summer 2015 collection and other shows during Paris Fashion Week in January.

Murray's version of the ponytail is high on top and extremely colorful.

This feathered effect on the top of the model's head is almost an artwork in itself.

There are all sorts of fusions going on here according to the stylists....80s sleekness, a bit of grunge...and even 60s flamboyance.

This super sized afro is made from three wigs cut into each other. It is one of the Alillon collection designed by Johnny Othona.

Beauty trainer Steve Douch said false lashes will still be fluttering for many years ahead, but added that new lashes will offer a more natural alternative.

"For those clients who can't have false lashes, who are unable to have them maybe because of reactions, this is going to be a completely different treatment for them. It's using their own natural lashes in helping to make, or lift and straighten them, in exactly (the same way) I would call it the Brazilian blow dry of lashes," Douch said.

When it comes to wedding beauty, eyes are the key, claims make-up artist Armand Beasley - and the more dramatic - the better.

"If you look at Indian and Bollywood movies, it's all about the eyes, you know the mouth can be covered, but a thousand words can be said with just one glance and that's what the groom wants," Beasley said.
