Dusty weather swept North China on Friday and Saturday, bringing strong winds and dust to Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi and Beijing.
The National Meteorological Center also revealed that some regions have even experiences sandstorms. It is already the fourth time this year that sandstorms have smothered the country's northern regions -- double the number during the same period last year. A blue alert has been issued, the lightest level of the four-tier color-coded weather warnings.

Meanwhile, the Chinese capital experienced its first sandstorm of the year on Saturday, with its PM10 density reaching its highest level, surpassing 1,000 macro-grams per cubic meter. Beijing's municipal meterological station says its choking air has been brought in from Inner Mongolia by the cold front which is moving east.
