Help needed for children with autism in China

According to China Disabled Persons' Federation, there are more than 1.6 million children diagnosed with autism in China and the number is likely to rise in the near future.

Autism experts have called for increased awareness in society of the condition and greater acceptance of those with the condition.

In the past three years, Chinese government has spent about US$7million on building rehabilitation education centers and co-ordination with education departments to help children with the condition.

CDPF officials said help is needed in sectors such as education, training and employment.
