Asian Games gold medalist triumphs in 22.17 seconds

Asian Games gold medalist Ning Zetao was expected to cruise to victory in Wednesday's final of the men's 50-meter freestyle.

The 2014 Incheon winner has revealed that he's been hampered by a wrist injury, but he continues to compete. Starting in the fourth lane, Ning's starting reaction time is not great, but he soon finds his rhythm, surpassing Yu Hexin, his most serious challenger.

He touches the wall in 22.17 seconds, which ranks 13th in the world, while Guangdong's Yu Hexin finishes second, and Shanghai's Shi Yang takes third.

In the women's 50-meter butterfly, Shanghai's Lu Ying wins the title in a time of 26.09 seconds. Her result is the ninth-quickest time in the world this year, as well as the fastest in Asia.

In the women's 200 meter backstroke, fans would be treated to the closest competition of the night, as Hubei's Chen Jie touches first in 2 minutes, 9.64 seconds, the world's 10th fastest time this year, while Zhejiang's Liu Yaxin and Ye Shiwen takes silver and bronze, trailing by 0.14 and 0.25 seconds.And in the men's 100 meters butterfly, Zhejiang native Li Zhuhao attracts the most attention.

In the semi-finals, he swam 51.82 seconds to rank fifth in the world, and during this final, he hoped to break the Asian record, but only clocked in at 52.20 seconds. Also on Wednesday... Bayi's Zhang Yuhan won the women's 800-meter freestyle in 8 minutes, 31 seconds and Jiangsu's team took the 4-by-100 meter freestyle title ahead of the foursomes from Beijing and Hebei.
