China's Ministry of Transportation has called for more streamlined public transport services, in large conurbations across the country.
At a press conference on Thursday, ministry official Wang Shuiping called for more unified transport card schemes, linked across cities within one region.
Wang says the ministry is currently refining new reforms to the taxi market and that the government supports the recent rapid growth in the chauffeured car sector.
Wang highlighted recent changes in Yiwu city in east China, as a good example of taxi reforms. The city government there has stopped applying operating fees to taxis, giving a boost for taxi drivers and operators.
