In Gaza, Palestinians are following the Chinese example of building football stadiums on rooftops, in one of the most unique sport projects to be done in the Gaza Strip.

Al Sadaqa sport club in Gaza has been working over the past 3 months on the construction of a 9 meter-high from earth pentagonal soccer playground with a total area of 720 meters. This soccer stadium is considered as one of Gaza's largest playgrounds

This is the first time that such project is being carried out in the costal enclave, in an attempt to imitate the step of China of creating pitches on rooftops to face the problem of high population density and limited land available.

"This stadium is a great project and it's one of a kind in Gaza. The Israeli occupation often targeted young people, but young people in Gaza have determination and persistence to develop the Football sport in Gaza," said Hany Aburiyala, a Palestinian football player.

During Israel's recent wars on Gaza, the Israeli air forces had bombed "Falasteen stadium" which is the only Stadium in the Gaza Strip, that was equipped in accordance with international standards of FIFA, leaving the Gaza strip with no soccer stadium's of international standards.

At the same time the Gaza Strip is considered as one of the most densely populated areas in the world, Zaki Baroud the manager of al Sadaqa club explains who they benefited form the Chinese experience in building playgrounds on buildings' rooftops.

"This pitch was a dream, and it became a reality. The idea came to mind when we saw a playground built in China over a university building. We were impressed and we succeeded in implementing the idea here in the Gaza Strip," Baroud said.

This project was funded by the Qatari government, and it's expected to be launched in late June 2015, as Gaza's largest and most unique succor stadium.
