More than one hundred thousand fans gather in Los Angeles for the 24th annual Anime Expo. It's North America's premier and largest celebration of anime, showcasing spectacular costumes inspired by popular characters.

The inaugural Anime Expo, or as the fans call it "A-X", took place in 1992 and since then, it has only continued to grow steadily, expanding its reach to the point where it has sold out to capacity. From waiting in line for screenings, performances, and even karaoke competitions to searching for the right new action figure to add to their collection, fans have a jam-packed schedule.

With so many colorful costumes all around Anime Expo, it certainly takes a lot to stand out. However, the true fans have cosplay down to a fine art as they pour time, energy, and effort into recreating their favorite characters and bringing them to life off the page.

Inside the Exhibit Hall are the ingredients of assembling a great cosplay. From giant hats to soft animal paws to colorful wigs, the trick to cosplay is definitely in the details.

Exhibitors are excited to showcase their goods, catering to the very particular audience that Anime Expo draws in. With creative products that encompass action figures, prints, charms, DVDs, T-shirts, and plush toys, fans can feel overwhelmed in the best way possible.

A trip to Anime Expo would not be complete without a stop by Artist Alley, to meet the artists who are showcasing their original fan art based on their personal favorite anime characters, happy to share common ground.

Four days straight of dressing up, interacting with fellow fans, and participating in a range of fun activities, Anime Expo is an event that shows the power of storytelling. It takes anime to a whole new level, bringing together and connecting fans in person from all over the world.
