Xinxin, the female of a giant-panda pair given by the central government to Macao, has just celebrated her eighth birthday with children.

The special administrative region's Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau held a special party for Xinxin, presenting her with a tailor-made "ice-cake" made from frozen fruit juice topped with fresh fruit and vegetables.

Meanwhile, dozens of little Panda fans sang "Happy Birthday" to Xinxin in the Panda Pavilion at Seac Pai Van Park. The Birthday girl played happily with her cake, rolling the icy ball around from head to foot, and the delighted onlookers laughed and gasped at her antics.

Xinxin was one of a Panda pair that arrived in Macao on April 30 as gifts from the central government. They replaced the former pair, named Kaikai and Xinxin, after the former Xinxin died of kidney failure in June last year. The former pair came to Macao as gifts to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to China.
