Before the advent of computer games, tin toys were a mainstay of childhood. But why should technology sweep away the infant joys of just a generation ago. With three thousand vintage toys, Shanghai's Tin Toy Museum offers a welcome dose of nostalgia for those now in middle age.

Toys that stand the test of time, whatever the whizzkids of today invent for the computer generation. From battery-driven robots to a wind-up pecking chicken, these toys embody quality and durability.

"I'm pretty overwhelmed to see these toys that I grew up with once again," said a visitor.

Some rare items are included in this exhibition, including a magnet-powered dragon. This toy won Shanghai's top craftsmanship award in 1978 and is extremely valuable nowadays.

"We are looking forward to expanding the collection with more people supporting us," said Wang Peiguang, director of Shanghai Tin Toy Museum.

Who knows? Perhaps these toys will spark interest among today's younger generation who may ready to step back out of the virtual world and enjoy the tangible toys their parents treasured in childhood.
