Hollywood's Emmy Awards acknowledge outstanding achievements in television, and some newcomers are in contention this year. But whether they're freshmen or old hands, what they have in common is that they all feel lucky.

67th Emmy Awards: First-time contenders and returning nominees

The Television Academy hosted the first of two official parties for this year's nominees. At this point, they're all winners.

"It feels good. It feels good. It was painless. It was painless. I thought it was going to hurt. That's why I stayed away so long. Had I known it was going to be this painless, I would have jumped in a long time ago. But, no, it feels great. I'm excited. My family, my friends, my co-workers are all excited for me, so, you know, it's a pleasure to be invited to the party," said Anthony Anderson of "Black-Ish".

"It was wonderful. It was absolutely wonderful. I cried like a baby. I cried like a baby. I cried like a big old baby, is what I did. You know, I wasn't campaigning. I didn't have a publicist at the time. So, that's what made it even more special. You know what I mean? Because I was just enjoying this character and looked up and saw that my community of actors said, 'We see you.' And that was just so special. Because I didn't think anybody was paying attention to this little show that we had on HBO. Who knew?" said Niecy Nash of "Getting On".

Along with these newcomers, returning veterans are also being honoured.

"It's long. It feels celebratory. I feel like I've been gifted an enormous honor. First time it happened I thought, 'It's never going to happen again. It's never going to happen again. I lost and this is it and it's never going to happen,' and then I've been nominated four times. So, I feel very, very lucky," said Sarah Paulson, "American Horror Story: Freak Show".

"For me, one of the things about being here is, however overused it is: All the wonderful actors, all the wonderful artists out there that never had my luck. And I do mean 'luck.' Have I worked hard? I got my first paycheck 48 years ago. How many times I've said to her (his wife), 'Honey, I don't know. I think we're going to sell the house.' But do I feel lucky? I don't care how overused it is. It is appropriate. I am very, very lucky," said Jonathan Banks, "Better Call Saul".

The 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles on the 20th of September.
