President Xi urges SCO members to expand cooperation

Chinese President Xi Jinping has returned home after his state visits to Serbia, Poland, and Uzbekistan.

Xi Jinping attended and delivered a speech at the 16th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in the Uzbekistani capital of Tashkent. He hailed the SCO's achievements since its establishment 15 years ago. He pointed out that the SCO countries have deepened their cooperation in trade, energy, and transportation.

The Chinese president also put forward a five-point proposal for the development of the regional bloc. He urged all members to carry forward the "Shanghai Spirit," and remain open and transparent.

He also proposed that the SCO should expand practical cooperation and find greater space for its development. He added that the SCO should continue to uphold openness and inclusiveness and get more parties on board for cooperation.
