Kyrgyz interim gov't says to take action against Bakiyev
April-12-2010

The Kyrgyz opposition-proclaimed interim government will take action against President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, a leader of the tentative governing body said Monday.

Almaz Atambayev, the first deputy head of the interim government, told the press that a special operation is being prepared against Bakiyev who was forced to flee the capital to southern Kyrgyzstan last Wednesday by opposition protesters.

Bakiyev, however, warned Monday at a news conference in Jalalabad that any attempt to seize or kill him by the interim government would bring about bloodshed.

Quoted by Kyrgyz and Russian media, Bakiyev said that his supporters would start to hold rallies in southern Kyrgyzstan Tuesday. Bakiyev was born in Jalalabad in 1949.
