Strong rain to continue in flood-hit S. China
May-21-2010

Strong rain will continue to lash flood-plagued south China in the next three days, according to a forecast from China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Friday.

The rains would hit southeastern Hubei Province, southern Anhui Province, southern Jiangsu Province, Shanghai, central and northern Zhejiang Province, central and northern Jiangxi Province, southern and eastern Guizhou Province, northern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and northwestern Yunnan Province.

Other parts of China -- northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and southeastern Tibet Autonomous Region -- will also experience heavy rain.

Strong rainstorms in southern China since early May have triggered floods and mud-rock flows, swollen rivers, burst dikes, threatened reservoirs and damaged highways, bridges and power facilities.
