Australian director Baz Luhrmann is considering stepping into the three-dimension world with his upcoming movie, The Great Gatsby, media reported Monday.
The director of the films including Moulin Rouge, Australia, Strictly Ballroom and Romeo and Juliet, said he has workshopped The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, in 3D, but hasn't made his final decision yet.
Luhrmann made the remarks at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, the United States, where he discussed the advantages of the Blu-ray format along with directors Michael Mann and Oliver Stone.
The Great Gatsby, based on the classic 1925 novel by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald, is currently in development and scheduled for release in 2012.
3D movies has witnessed a boom in recent couple of years, as blockbusters, including Avatar and Alice in Wonderland, wowed audiences in theatres across the world.
However, Stone warned on 3D that budgets must be taken into consideration seriously.
"Don't shoot a 3D movie unless you can afford it, otherwise you are putting yourself under enormous pressure, " he warned. |
