The worst drought in six decades is escalating in Shandong Province, Xinhua reports, citing a spokesperson for the local Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters Saturday. A total of 240,000 people and 107,000 head of livestock are suffering from short supply of drinking water in the province. 新华社消息,山东省防汛抗旱指挥部官员周六通报,全省60年一遇的旱情仍在持续加剧。目前全省有24万人、10.7万头牲畜面临饮水困难。
Approximately 30 million mu of wheat land has been affected by the drought, or 56 percent of the province's total farmland sown to the crop, some 1.1 million mu more than last week. The province has earmarked 680 million yuan and motivated 2 million people to fight the drought.

目前全省小麦受旱面积已达3000万亩,约占全省小麦播种面积的56%,比一周前增加110多万亩。旱情发生以来,山东省已投入资金6.8亿元、抗旱劳力200万人。
