Chinese FM sends condolences to NZ over deadly quake

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Tuesday sent a condolence message to his New Zealand counterpart Murray McCully over a deadly earthquake that struck the country.

A 6.3-magnitude temblor Tuesday struck Christchurch, one of New Zealand's biggest cities, killing at least 65 people and causing heavy damage.

Yang, on behalf of the Chinese government, also expressed his deep condolences to the victims' families.
