Doctor apologizes for improper comments

Global Times, March 1, 2011

A doctor who posted improper comments on her microblog has been transferred from a nursing post to laundry duties in the hospital, according to the head of the hospital's investigation team.

Li Conglin, a doctor in the Shantou City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Shantou, Guangdong Province apologized on February 24 for writing comments on her microblog mocking patients who were close to death.

She admitted the entries had been written by her, although previously she had claimed that her microblog had been hacked and that she had not written the improper entries.

The "improper comments" referred to several entries in Li's microblog, which saw Li complaining of how one patient's death might disturb her rest during the night.

Li's entry was widely circulated among microblog users and stirred public outrage.
