Wintry weather forecasted for north China
March-31-2011

A cold front will drop temperatures and bring snow to China's north and northwestern regions over the next three days, the country's weather authorities said Thursday.

Light to moderate snow or sleet is forecast in parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Gansu Province and the central-northern part of north China, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said in a statement on its website.

Also, the southeastern part of Qinghai Province will see moderate to heavy snow, the statement said.

As the cold front moves over the country, Inner Mongolia and other areas along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers will experience temperate drops of 8 to 10 degrees Celsius, or even 12 to 14 degrees Celsius in some parts, the statement said.

The NMC also forecast showers in parts of Tibet and Ningxia Hui autonomous regions and Shaanxi and Hainan provinces.
