1 killed in an apartment building blast in Bejing

At least one person was killed and one more was injured after a blast broke out at an apartment building in downtown Beijing, capital of China this morning.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the accident was caused by fuel gas explosion.

The accident occurred at around 8:27 a.m. at the 5th Entrance of No. 3 apartment building in the 12th neighborhood of Heping Street, Chaoyang District.

As of 10:30 a.m., in addition to one death and one injury, part of the apartment building collapsed in the explosion, local police confirmed.

More than than 200 fire fighters rushed to the site of the accident in 29 fire engines. Sniffer dogs were also sent to help the rescue operation.
