6.0-magnitude quake hits sea off Japan's east coast

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale hit the sea off the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 10:58 p.m. Beijing Time Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at 38.2 degrees north latitude and 144.0 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 10 kilometers, the center said.
