6.0-magnitude quake hits sea off east coast of Japan

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale hit the sea off the east coast of Honshu in Japan at 11:40 a.m. Beijing Time Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at 39.8 degrees north latitude and 143.2 degrees east longitude with a depth of 30 km, the center said.
