President Hu Jintao has urged party committees at various levels to learn from past experience in serving the people and curbing corruption in order to maintain the party's "advanced nature."

Hu made the remarks Tuesday during a group study of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on the advanced construction of the CPC.

Hu said that the experience gained from improving Party building in the past 90 years could serve as long-term guidance for maintaining the Party's advanced nature and must be "cherished and carried forward."

Hu stressed that new responsibilities and major tests await the CPC considering the changing domestic and international trends, onerous missions in ensuring reform, development and stability as well as the expectations to live a better life from people of various ethnic groups.

According to Hu, maintaining the advanced nature of the party is a major strategic mission that must be thoroughly pushed forward in order to ensure the CPC's solid position to guide the people in unity and hard work.

Hu urged the party to deeply realize and make full use of the experience from "relying on the people closely and serving the people honestly," sticking to people-oriented governance and ensuring the basic rights of ordinary people as the starting point of all party work.

Hu urged party members to work on solving people's problems and benefiting their livelihoods in order to win their lasting support.

Stressing the ability to manage itself strictly, Hu urged the CPC to improve its governing efficiency and its abilities to curb corruption and prevent various risks.

In addition, Hu ordered party committees at all levels to ensure the implementation of policies and tasks down to the grassroots level and adapt the advanced construction of the party in line with scientific development and the promotion of social harmony.
