Huawei aims to buy extra from Taiwan firms

Shanghai Daily, July 20, 2011

Huawei, a leading information and communication technology solutions provider on the Chinese mainland, will increase purchases from Taiwan suppliers, a senior manager said yesterday.

Philip Jiang, Huawei's vice president, told a cross-Strait business forum that the company is likely to buy products worth NT$110 billion (US$3.85 billion) from its Taiwan suppliers this year. He said the figure was NT$99.5 billion last year.

Taiwan companies have become the third-largest supplier for Huawei, Jiang said.

"We will increase the variety of purchases," he said.
