Forces of Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC) entered Bani Walid on Friday, one of the last strongholds of toppled leader Muammar Gaddafi, al-Jazeera TV said.

The anti-Gaddafi forces entered the town after heavy clashes and continued to fight with Gaddafi's loyalists around Bani Walid, some 150 km south of Tripoli, the report said.

The NTC, interim authorities of Libya, gave Saturday as deadline for Gaddafi forces in the town to surrender.
