China sends engineering corps to S. Sudan

China has announced the creation of a brigade of engineers to assist in reconstruction and development efforts in South Sudan.

China sends engineering corps to S. Sudan. 

The 275 officers and soldiers will be charged with building roads, bridges and simple barracks. They'll also provide engineering support to the UN peacekeeping force in the area.

They're expected to leave for the country on January 11 and will stay there for eight months.
