The area of China's largest inland lake has been enpanding for seven consecutive years and it turns to 4351.50 square kilometers after its complete thawing this year, according to Qinghai Academy of Meteorological Sciences.
The Qinghai lake has enlarged by 56.06 km compared with the same period of last year, according to the latest data of satellite remote sensing monitoring.
Under the influence of climate change and human activities, the water level of Qinghai Lake had kept declining for several years with its area shrinking.
In recent years, a series of ecological protection policies have been carried out to stop the shrinking. In addition, the precipitation in the area has also increased. As a result, the lake has began to grow since 2005.
The Qinghai Lake is the largest inland lake and the largest saltwater lake in China. It lies 4,500 meters above sea level on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, surrounded by mountain ranges.
