A 5.8-magnitude earthquake jolted northern Italy on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake, which occurred at 9:00 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), was centered 40 km north northwest of Bologna with a depth of 9.6 km, according to the USGS.
The tremor followed a 5.9-magnitude quake, which killed seven people and injured some 50 others in the northern Emilia-Romagna region on May 21.
