26 pupils ill after drinking soda water in NW China

A total of 26 pupils in Qinghai province have displayed symptoms of poisoning after drinking soda water from street vendors Wednesday afternoon, local authorities said.

The pupils from the Xinninglu Primary School in the capital city of Xining became ill after drinking soda water offered for free by street vendors at the school gate around 3. p.m., according to the municipal education bureau.

Two pupils experienced vomiting, four had fevers and the other 20 felt dizzy after drinking the soda water, it said.

The cause of their illness is currently under investigation.
