Corpse-moving fee condemned

Xinhua, August 3, 2012

Zhao Baige, executive vice president of the Red Cross Society of China, said yesterday it was unreasonable to charge the families of flood victims to move their corpses.

Internet users revealed that emergency buses from an RCSC-affiliated rescue center charged 620 yuan (US$97) to transfer bodies of family members who died during a severe rainstorm in Beijing on July 21. At least 77 died in the capital.
