China, Vietnam hold 6th defense, security talks

The sixth defense and security consultation between Chinese and Vietnamese defense ministries was held here on Monday under the co-chair by Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and Vietnam's deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations between the two countries and armies, and the regional security situation as well as other issues of common concern.

The two sides spoke highly of bilateral defense and security consultation mechanism, which serves as a platform to promote the development of bilateral relations between the two countries and armies, enhance strategic communication and mutual trust, as well as properly handle differences.

Both sides agreed that the China-Vietnam military relationship is an important part of the two countries' comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The two armies should make efforts to expand consensus, resolve conflicts and deepen cooperation, and make greater contribution to further consolidate the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam, maintain regional peace, security and stability.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue to maintain the high-level visits, strengthen dialogue and consultation, promote cooperation in the fields of personnel training, border exchanges, navy and multilateral security issues.
