FISA head Oswald to run for IOC president

International Rowing Federation president Denis Oswald Friday announced he is going to run for the International Olympic Committee presidency.

Oswald, 66, became the fifth candidate to succeed Jacques Rogge after IOC vice presidents Thomas Bach of Germany and Ng Ser Miang of Singapore, Richard Carrion of Puerto Rico and C.K. Wu of Chinese Taipei joined the race.

Rogge is stepping down in September after 12 years as president. The election will be held on September 10 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
