Apple has unveiled a new design for the user interface of its new operating system, the iOS 7.

The designer says they wanted to make the new operating system "cleaner" to help "elevate" users' content.

A similar change has also been made to its OS X system for Mac computers.

Apple has also unveiled its iTunes Radio - a streaming music service offering access to themed stations, which can be tailored to your listening history on iTunes.

The feature is accessible via the iOS 7's music app.

The new music feature is being viewed as a challenge to LastFm, Pandora, Spotify and other similar products.

Apple says iOS 7 will be made available in the fall.

Meanwhile, Apple also unveiled a new line of Mac computers and an updated MacBook Air which include all-day battery life and the fourth generation Intel Core processors with faster graphics.

"So here's the current generation of Macbook Air, 11-inch and 13-inch. The 11-inch is now going to go from five hours of battery life up to an incredible nine hours of battery life. And if you like that, the 13 goes from seven to 12 hours of battery life. True, all day battery life," Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller said.

Apple CEO Tim Cook is under pressure to show the company is not slowing down, given that deep-pocketed competitors such as Samsung and Google are encroaching on Apple's market share.

Investor concerns center around whether Apple will be able to come up with more groundbreaking products as the smartphone and tablet market gets more crowded.

In April, Apple reported its first quarterly profit decline in over a decade.
