The four observers were on their way to carry out a routine monitor mission on Monday in the east city of Donetsk, Ukraine, when they lost contact with the OSCE at around 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (1400-1500 GMT), said Natacha Rajakovic, deputy spokesperson of the OSCE in Vienna.

The four missing observers have been identified as a Dane, an Estonian, a Turk and a Swiss national, the OSCE spokesperson added.

So far, the team's whereabouts remained unknown. Both Ukraine authorities and the OSCE are continuing their efforts to search for the disappeared team, the European security organization spokesperson told Xinhua.
