Howard told reporters that the six-year period, in which The Beatles managed to take the world by storm and release classic album after classic album, is "a dramatic transformation in terms of global culture" and will be "very interesting to explore."
The filmmaker will interview surviving Beatles Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, as well as Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison – widow of George Harrison.
The as-of-yet untitled documentary will also use extensive concert footage – some shot by fans in attendance at the time – and soundboard recordings of the band's past performances.
Howard is aiming for a release by the end of next year.
