8 killed in NW China traffic accident

Eight people were killed and another 14 were injured in a traffic accident in Northwest China's Qinghai province on Monday evening.

The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. in Xinghai County of Qinghai, where a heavy sling cart driving from Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Golog got out of control and crashed into several other moving vehicles.

Five people died at the scene and another three died later in hospital. The 14 injured are receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
