Samsung devices to link wirelessly within 5 years

Shanghai Daily, February 11, 2015

All Samsung devices, including handset, TV, freezer and washing machine, will support wireless connections or Internet of Things technology within five years, Samsung Electronics said yesterday.

The South Korean company, which is being challenged by Chinese firms like Xiaomi and Huawei, will penetrate small towns and rural markets as well as launch new price-competitive models to expand its business in China, Samsung said yesterday in Hong Kong.

"We are facing both opportunities and challenges in China in 2015," Jae-soon Park, Samsung Electronics China’s president, said during the Samsung Forum 2015.

"We aim to offer new products for Chinese consumers."

Samsung also unveiled new products such as TVs with curved screen, Wi-Fi enabled air purifiers and Android-based printers.

All Samsung TVs are likely to support Internet of Things by 2017, the company said, adding that all Samsung devices will support wireless connections within five years.

Samsung has a complete eco-system connecting handsets and home appliances.
