Global eco forum seeks green development

The opening ceremony of the 2015 Eco Forum Global Annual Conference was held on June 27 at the Guiyang International Eco-Conference Centerin Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province.

More than 1,000 guests from around the world have gathered at the forum to share their views and insights on shaping global, regional and industry agendas and actions for greener growth and sustainable development under "new normal" conditions.

The forum, themed “Embracing a New Era of Eco-Civilization: New Agendas, New Normal, New Actions," is being attended by top political leaders, business executives, representatives from top international organizations and academic experts.

Three high-level forums, 32 sessions and 39 activities will be held during the three-day event, which will address new agendas for global green growth and international cooperation, the new normal of sustainable development in China, ecological governance systems and capabilities, green industries and sustainable development, green urbanization, green consumption and the creation of an inclusive society with green values.

Twenty percent of the sub-forums will focus on issues concerning environmental ecology, including air, water and soil, 50 percent will be on the green economy, 20 percent on eco-civilization construction and mechanism reform for global sustainable development, and 10 percent on the green growth of Chinese provincial regions.

The Eco Forum Global Annual Conference is an independent, non-profit international organization established in 2009. It is the only national forum for fostering sustainable development and eco-civilization in China.
