The Chinese Embassy in Germany says it has kept close contact with local police to follow the investigation into the death of a Chinese student.

The victim student has been identified as Li Yangjie.

She studied on a campus of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in eastern German Dessau Region.

The Chinese Embassy has issued a statement and confirmed that Li Yangjie lost contact while exercising outside the campus at round 8:30 PM on Wednesday.

The police received the report the next day, while her remains were found on Friday in a bush in the city's downtown area.

The site where she was found was reportedly less than 100 meters away from her residence.

At this point, the police has disclosed neither the cause of her death nor whether she was subjected to violence before she died.

The embassy said it has urged local police to take concrete steps to ensure the safety of Chinese students studying there.
