Mongolian Prime Minister Sanjaa Bayar sent his resignation letter to the State Great Hural (SGH) Monday afternoon.
The press office of the SGH, the country's parliament, said the letter was sent at 3:00 p.m. local time (0700 GMT).
The country's ruling party said in the morning that Bayar has tendered his resignation due to poor health.
Bayar has been suffering liver problems and was hospitalized last week in the capital city.
