A visiting delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the ruling Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) on Tuesday held the third meeting of the exchange mechanism between the two ruling parties.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Azuma Koshiishi, acting DPJ secretary general made keynote speeches at meeting.

In their speeches, both Wang and Koshiishi noted that as international and regional situations are undergoing profound changes and the two nations are now facing new tasks in their drive for development, the two ruling parties need to adopt more practical stances and proceed from broader perspectives in a bid to elevate the bilateral strategic and mutually beneficial relations to a new level.

Delegates from both sides also exchanged opinions on further promotion of economic cooperation, politically mutual trust and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Before the meeting, Wang, who headed the CPC delegation, met separately with Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada, DPJ Secretary General Ichiro Ozawa and chiefs of other Japanese political parties.
