Relative calm witnessed in Abidjan after Gbagbo's arrest

Relative calm has reigned in Abidjan after Cote d'Ivoire's former president Laurent Gbagbo was captured on Monday by soldiers loyal to his rival Alassane Ouattara, the internationally recognized president.
Some Abidjan residents came out to celebrate Gbagbo's arrest while others remained holed up in their homes to wait and see how events unfold.
After the Nov. 28 elections, the two protagonists were declared as winners, Ouattara by the electoral commission while Gbagbo was declared as the winner by the constitutional council.
The stand-off between the two rivals led to violent confrontations in Abidjan where most people remained locked up in their homes for over 10 days.
