An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale jolted Fiji Islands region at 1154 local time ( 0354 GMT) on Friday, the Hong Kong Observatory said.
The epicenter was initially determined to be near 16.5 degrees south latitude and 176.7 degrees west longitude, about 540 kilometers north-northwest of Nuku'alofa.
