At least 11 militants were killed and 19 others were injured in clashes with security forces in Kurram tribal area of northwest Pakistan on Friday, local media reported.
According to the report by local Urdu TV channel Dunya, the clashes broke out in the morning when troops pounded three suspected hideouts in the Mamozai area of Kurram Agency, a militancy hit tribal area at Pak-Afghan border which became highly volatile after the beginning of U.S. led war against terror in 2001.

Security forces launched an operation, Azmari Ghero last November for flushing out militants from Kurram Agency but could not completely succeed in it due to the strong hold of Taliban militants in the area.
Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani in his address to the troops fighting against militants in Kurram Agency said that the security forces are facing tough resistance from the Taliban militants in the area.
